The Mississippi Immigrants Rights Alliance and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in conjunction with the International Museum of Muslim Cultures are pleased to announce our 6th Annual Unity Conference and Awards Dinner Friday and Saturday, March 30-31, 2012.  The Conference and Dinner will take place at the Mississippi Arts Center, 201 E. Pascagoula Street, Jackson, Mississippi.

The theme for this year’s conference is:  ”Stand With Us: Uniting the Interracial Interfaith Communities of Color.” Our goal this year is to create dialogue between members of the Islamic communities and members of varied faiths and disciplines by uniting all in the common cry for religious freedom and activism.

The conference will begin at 8:00 am on Friday, March 30 in the Large Rehearsal Hall at the Mississippi Arts Center and will continue that evening with a dinner and awards program at 7;00 pm also in the Large Rehearsal Hall at the Mississippi Arts Center. The conference will continue on Saturday, March 31 from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm at the Mississippi Arts Center.Cost to register for the conference is $25.00, and the dinner is $30.00 or you can register for both conference and dinner for only $50.00.  Student cost for the conference is $10, and the dinner is $15.

The Friday night dinner keynote speaker will be Imam Ali Siddiqui, a peace and labor activist who is immersed in the Liberation Philosophy of Islam through his 35 years of community service including spiritual/educational development and service to low wage workers, the sick and incarcerated. A native of India, Siddiqui, who grew up in Pakistan, is one of the founding directors of Orange Co., CA Interfaith Worker Justice.

One Nation Indivisible’s Susan Eaton will address the conference on March 31.
